Amazon Ministry Report
Dear beloved co-workers in the ministry,
The heart of the Amazon jungle is beating again! The scorching sun of the dry season has retreated, and the life-giving rains of the wet season are soaking the riverside villages, sprouting new hope. Just as the rising river fills the parched land, your prayers and dedication are filling the souls of the Amazon. By God’s grace, we joyfully report that in the 3rd quarter of 2025 abundant fruit of the gospel has been harvested. Your love is becoming a shining lamp of life in this distant jungle! Theological Seminary Ministry – Hands that plant the seeds of the gospel
Deep in the Amazon jungle, the seminary is the cradle raising up leaders who will proclaim the gospel of Jesus. In July, Mr. Yoon Jae Lee, department head of the AMO Group, visited the riverside villages and witnessed the fruit of the Living Water Project and scholarship ministry. Pastor Yoo Jae-deok of New Seoul Church visited for the second time, encouraging the village churches and delivering warm comfort. Schaumburg Korean Church celebrated the dedication of a new self-supporting church in the city of Caballococha, Peru, with a joyful worship service.
From August 4–8, the 19th Pastoral Seminar was a time when the flame of the gospel burned brightly. Pastor Lee Jae-ho of Houston Korean Central Presbyterian Church delivered heart-shaking messages on the theme “Jesus Who Is the Gospel,” and Pastor Lee Il-shin added grace with a special lecture on biblical child-rearing for women ministers. The warm Korean food prepared by the elders and deaconesses melted both the bodies and hearts of the attendees.
This second semester, 16 new students enrolled, but sadly, student Camila had to return home due to severe asthma. On September 12 we celebrated the end of the semester together in prayer, but we urgently need your prayers for her full recovery. Please continue to walk with these young students in prayer so that they may become the main agents who light the lamp of the gospel in the Amazon riverside villages!
Church Building Ministry – The joy of building God’s house
God’s sanctuaries are rising one by one in the Amazon riverside villages! Thanks to the dedication of Houston Central Presbyterian Church, five church buildings have been constructed over the past two years. On August 7, the dedication service of the new church in the village of Santa Cecilia, Peru, resounded with emotion. Church construction is actively progressing in six villages: Choerapapu, Santa Vitória, Guanabara Três, Porto Espirituau in Brazil, and San Juan de Cacao and Caballococha in Peru. In particular, Santa Vitória Church is preparing for its preliminary dedication service very soon, and the entire village is buzzing with joy.
These church buildings are not mere structures. They are lighthouses shining the light of the gospel into villages of darkness and holy places where indigenous people meet the love of Jesus. Dear co-workers, your prayers and dedication are becoming God’s tools that save souls through these sanctuaries!
Farm Ministry – Land that nurtures the dream of self-sufficiency
Under the blazing Amazon sun, the seminary farm is sowing seeds for the vision of self-sufficiency and abundance. In the poultry farm, 150 native chicks are growing healthily despite the harsh jungle environment. In the piggery, more than 90 fattened pigs are raising hope. In the fish farm, 4,000 tambaqui fry are swimming vigorously like the river current, and the sheep-rearing ministry is opening possibilities amid challenges. Young açaí berry seedlings are pushing through weeds and growing green with the strength of fertilizer.
This farm is not just agriculture. It is the foundation that will allow Amazon churches and the seminary to become self-supporting and continue proclaiming the gospel. Your prayers and support are bearing the fruit of life in this land!
Isaiah 43:21
“This people I have formed for myself; they shall declare my praise.” (Isaiah 43:21)
Like the Amazon River, God’s grace never runs dry but keeps flowing. Your prayers and love are bearing fruit here in the form of new churches, new leaders, and new lives. The small hands of our precious co-workers are becoming a mighty wave that builds God’s kingdom under the Amazon sky.
Prayer requests to lift up together:
Dear co-workers, please hold the following prayer items in your hearts and pray with us:
That the students may grow spiritually through meditation on the Word and service during the vacation period.
That riverside indigenous ministers may be filled with the Word and the Holy Spirit through the long-distance online theological program.
That the church construction in the six villages may be completed smoothly by God’s grace.
That the poultry, pig, fish, sheep, and agricultural projects at the Tri-Border Farm may continually bear the fruit of sustainable self-sufficiency.
That before the retirement of the first-generation missionaries in 2030, God would prepare successors to lead the seminary.
That through the non-electric water filtration systems, the water of life may be supplied to even more villages.
Your prayers and dedication are revealing God’s glory deep in the Amazon jungle. The love offered by the small home-front community is creating miracles here in this distant land—building churches, raising leaders, and saving lives. We give all glory to God who does these works and express our deepest gratitude to you.
Until the Amazon praises the Lord,
