Pigs and Fish

Feeding Families, Building Sustainability, and Sharing Christ in the Amazon

Livestock & Fishing Initiative

In the remote Amazon tri-border region of Brazil, Colombia, and Peru, many families face poverty, food insecurity, and limited economic opportunities. Through our Livestock & Fish Farming Initiative, Amazonian Gospel Lighthouse (3AGL) helps families develop sustainable sources of food and income while experiencing the love and hope of Jesus Christ.

As part of our holistic ministry approach, we work alongside local communities to provide practical agricultural training that strengthens families, improves child nutrition, and promotes long-term self-sufficiency.

Why Livestock and Fish Farming?

Many Amazon communities have access to land and water resources but lack the training and support needed to develop sustainable agricultural projects.

By introducing livestock and fish farming, families can:

  • Improve household nutrition

  • Increase food security

  • Generate supplemental income

  • Develop practical agricultural skills

  • Strengthen family stability

  • Reduce dependence on outside assistance

These initiatives align with our mission to combat poverty, promote self-sufficiency, and create opportunities for Gospel-centered community development.

Pig Farming

Building Sustainable Livelihoods

Pig farming offers families a practical way to increase income and provide nutritious food for their households.

Through training and mentorship, families learn:

  • Proper pig care and housing

  • Feeding and nutrition practices

  • Animal health management

  • Breeding techniques

  • Sustainable livestock management

With the right skills and resources, pig farming can become a reliable source of income that helps families meet essential needs and invest in the future of their children.

Benefits of Pig Farming

  • Improved access to protein-rich food

  • Greater economic resilience

  • Enhanced family stability

  • Long-term livelihood opportunities

Fish Farming

Utilizing the Amazon’s Natural Resources

Water is one of the Amazon's greatest blessings. Fish farming allows families to use this resource in a sustainable way while improving both nutrition and economic opportunities.

Participants receive hands-on training in:

  • Pond preparation and management

  • Fish stocking techniques

  • Water quality maintenance

  • Feeding and growth monitoring

  • Sustainable harvesting practices

Community demonstration ponds help families learn practical techniques that can be replicated throughout neighboring villages.

Benefits of Fish Farming

  • Increased access to healthy protein

  • Improved child development and nutrition

  • Greater household food security

  • Supplemental income opportunities

  • Sustainable food production

Sharing the Hope of Christ

At 3AGL, farming projects are more than economic development programs.

Every training session, village visit, and community gathering becomes an opportunity to:

  • Build relationships

  • Demonstrate Christian love through service

  • Encourage biblical stewardship

  • Share the Gospel

  • Strengthen local churches

We believe God cares about both the physical and spiritual needs of people. By meeting practical needs, we create opportunities for lives to be transformed through Christ.

“The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden.” — Isaiah 58:11
