Missionary Introduction
I began my faith journey at Geochang High School and grew through the Student Christian Movement at Chung-Ang University. After serving in the U.S. 8th Army and working six years in advertising, I became a lay missionary with Food for the Hungry International in 1993. For three years, I joined emergency relief efforts in Somalia, Tanzania, and Zaire, managing logistics and supplies—a meaningful way for the Korean church to give back to the global church.
In 1996, I moved to the UK to study business and theology, learning the importance of sound doctrine and practical ministry. These experiences convinced me that mission work should focus on preaching the gospel, planting churches, and discipling believers. I also decided ordination would strengthen long-term ministry.
In 2001, I earned an M.Div. in the U.S. and was ordained in 2003. Later that year, I was appointed as an Amazon missionary and arrived in Brazil in 2004. After a year of language and cultural adaptation, I settled in Tabatinga in 2005. Since then, I’ve co-led the Tri-Border Gospel Mission, established a Bible institute, and continued church-planting and theological training.
My family includes my wife, Missionary Chang-In Kim, and our son, Heemun, who works in Houston. Though imperfect, we aim to devote our lives to serving the Lord and advancing His kingdom in the Amazon.
